Martin and Gourette have respectively 20 and 25
"Pyrenean" ski-slopes and cross-country ski
routes set in grandiose landscapes at altitudes
of up to 2450 metres!
To offer an even better welcome, these resorts
are constantly modernising their facilities,
starting with snow guns and removable chair
lifts. La Pierre Saint Martin proposes skiing
for the handicapped, and Gourette extended its
beginners area in 2005. And to wind down after
all that effort, the
spa resort of Eaux-Bonnes is only 8 km away…
Iraty, Issarbe and Le Somport in the
Pyrenees National Park, ( just 1 hour 30 mins from Dax
) meanwhile, invite
you to make the most of nature in winter with
hikes on foot, on snowshoes or even in dog-drawn
sleds, through the forests and snow fields.
Gourette (1350 to 2450 m): The most well known ski resort in the
Pyrenees. Offering 25 runs over 30.5 km (4 green, 8 blue, 12 red, 1
black), 13 ski-lifts, 150 snow guns and 20 km of marked cross-country
trails. Located 50 km from Pau.
Iraty (1200 to 1500 m): A cross-country ski resort. Offers 6
marked cross-country trails totalling 45 km (1 green, 2 blue, 2 red, 1
black) and 3 marked trails for outings on snow-shoes. Set in a 5000 ha
forest of hardwoods.
Issarbe (1450 to 1500 m): A cross country resort located a few
kilometres from La Pierre St Martin. Offers 9 marked cross-country
trails totalling 31 km, marked trails for outings on snow-shoes and a
riding centre offering horse- or pony-drawn skiing.
La Pierre Saint Martin (1600 to 2150 m): 18 Runs (3 Green, 9
Blue, 5 Red, 1 Black) over 22kms. 16 Ski lifts. 45 Snow canons. 6.5km
marked cross-country trails through the Le Braca Forest. 2.5km trails
for snow shoes. This is very children friendly resort. Pau is 70 km
Le Somport (1600 m)
: A cross-country ski resort 50 km from Oloron
- Sainte-Marie. Offers 9 marked cross-country trails totalling 25 km on
the French side of the frontier and 9 km on the Spanish side (Candanchu
resort) and marked trails for outings on snow-shoes.
