Hunters Lodge

Luxury Holiday Accommodation in France

The property is a very large converted barn
with seven double bedrooms & five shower rooms
and is situated near fishing lakes & rivers,
ideal for game fishing & carp fishing,
there is also a 18 hole golf course nearby
and only 1 hour from Biarritz the surf capital of europe,
with it's beaches and high class restaurants and shops.

Hunters lodge is situated on a hillside in the south west of France
in the department of the Pyrenees Atlantic (64).

The summer months can be very hot with temperatures often exceeding 40C
which is why a swimming pool is a must.
The swimming pool, 12 meters x 6 meters, is a salt water pool
therefore there are no chlorine issues or problems.

The views can be stunning,
with the ever changing Pyrenees mountains and the local fields and fauna.
The lodge (a converted barn) was built in the mid 18th century
and has lots of it's original features,
including large oak beams & thick stone walls
that help to keep the house cool in summer but also warm in the winter.

For the winter months there is a 13kw log burning fire
plus radiators in each room.

The drive to the mountain ski resorts usually takes about 1 hour,
provided that the mountain roads are clear of snow,
so a day out skiing is perfectly feasible
and has been done so, many times already.

For all conveniences, shops, bars & restaurants
the local town of Orthez is only a 5 minute drive,
where there are also some lovely sites to be seen,
such as le pont vieux & la tour Moncade.

The house on the right of the main picture above
is occupied by your hosts Mike & Clare,
who will be there to assist you if needed,
but will not be using the pool or parking area,
they have there own area and entrance at the side of the house,
out of site from the lodge & the pool.

If you decide to do some fishing we have tackle that you can hire
plus if you need a permit we can get it for you online the day you arrive.
